In 2011-2012, the leadership team began our work together. We talked about the qualities of an "SRE Rocket". We developed a presentation for students and created a âRocket POWERâ list that we introduced along with our new school mascot, Rocky. Thanks to the efforts of Kelowna Kostume (one of our SRE families), we even have a costume for our mascot! The leadership team said the South Rutland students show Rocket POWER with:

- OWNERSHIPâ we have the right to learn and we take this responsibility seriously...
- WORK ETHICâ we work hard and do our best at work and play times...
- ENTHUSIASM- weâre a provincially recognized âSpirit Schoolâ...
- RESPECTâ we take care of ourselves, each other & this place (our environment).
We have worked on a variety of projects including: organizing assemblies, reviewing our school's Code of Conduct, updating our school's Behaviour Matrix (check out the posters around our school) and brainstorming ideas/developing SMARTBoard lessons for several topics. We established the S.T.A.R. acronym to organize behaviour expectations:
* S- Stay safe, * T- Take responsibility for yourself, * A- Act respectfully, * R- Ready to learn.
